Travel Information

The closest international airport, Oslo International Airport (OSL), is located 22 miles (35 km) northeast of the Scandic Holmenkollen Park Hotel in Oslo. Directions from the smaller Sandefjord Torp International Airport (TRF) are also given further down on the page.

Taxi

The current taxi fare (January 2023) from Oslo airport to Scandic Holmenkollen Park Hotel is 1169 NOK with Oslo Taxi, and the trip takes around 50 minutes. The price will usually be higher if you use other taxi companies.

Mass transit

From Oslo airport you can take the airport train (Flytoget) to Nationaltheateret station - this takes around 25 minutes and costs around 210 NOK. Alternatively you can take a local train, which will be a little cheaper, but will take a little longer.

At Nationaltheateret station you can switch to the underground train (T-bane): take line #1 (Frognerseteren train) to Holmenkollen station and then all that remains is a brisk 700 m walk up to the hotel.
IMPORTANT: Do not board the T-bane without a ticket, or you risk getting a hefty fine. There are various ways to buy a ticket, but the easiest is to use the "Ruter" app.
Alternatively, a taxi from Nationaltheateret station will cost you around 400-550 NOK.

There is also an airport bus, "Flybussen". The easiest is to take the FB3 bus to Gaustad (55 minutes, 209 NOK). From the bus stop, cross over the bridge to reach Gaustad T-bane station.

Travel from Sandefjord Torp Airport (TRF)

It is also possible to fly into the smaller Sandefjord Torp International Airport, that lies about 73 miles (110 km) south of Oslo. Ryan Air for example uses this airport.

A shuttle bus goes from the airport to the train station, and the train to Nationaltheateret takes 90 minutes, and costs about 350 NOK

The airport bus "Torpekspressen" goes directly from the airport to Oslo Bus Terminal. This also takes 90 minutes and costs about 300 NOK. From the bus terminal, it is about a five minute walk to the nearest T-bane station (Jernbanetorget): take line #1 (Frognerseteren train, see important note above) to Holmenkollen station and then it's a 700 m walk up to the hotel. Alternatively a taxi from Oslo Bus Terminal to the hotel will cost around 450-600 NOK.
